College Visits for Athletes

If you are planning to play college sports and are invited on an “official visit” during a season you are involved with a school activity, you need to do the proper paper work.

“In-Season visits” need to be cleared with your current school coach and you must in advance fill out an absence form with parent and teacher signatures prior to the day you are leaving if you intend on participating that same day in your activity.

If you are not participating in a school activity the day of your visit, you still need to complete the absence form with parent and teacher signatures, but you do not need to clear it with a coach.

If you do a college visit and it is not an official visit during a season you are participating in, you will not be cleared to participate that day in your activity.

The Shawnee Mission East Girls Soccer Team 2010 AND 2011, Boys Soccer Team 2011 and boys soccer player Lucas Throckmorton 2011 were  honored for their talents in the classroom as well as on the field.

The Lady Lancers won a 2010 Academic All American Team Award, an honor that is given to less than 250 schools in the country. Furthermore, the girls earned a team GPA of 4.2, the seventh highest GPA out of the 242 teams given the distinction.

The Men’s and Women’s 2011 Lancer Teams were awarded Academic All American Team Award

Lucas Throckmorton also received 2011 All American honors based on his individual performance.  To get the individual Academic All American Award, one must have a high GPA and receive high awards throughout the season. Throckmorton was Offensive Player of the Year for the Sunflower League and was First-Team All State.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America will recognize the accomplishments of SM East soccer with a certificate, which is currently on display in the high school’s trophy hall.

Congratulations to the boys’ soccer team for winning the Sunflower League championship! The guys’ finish out their season on Thursday vs. BVNW. The Lancers will host the first round of regionals on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 on field #3 at the soccer complex. The opponent has yet to be determined. As this is a state playoff game, NO PASSES will be accepted. Admission to the game is $5 for adults and $3 for students with an ID. Come out and support the Lancers as they make their push towards state!

Jordan Mann

The 2007 Boys Soccer season was dedicated to Jordan Mann. Jordan played here at East under Coach Ricker for four years and myself for his last two of the four years. Jordan past away in the spring of 2007 from a rare heart condition. Here is a website in his honor and I would like everyone to visit it and understand how special Jordan was to those lives he touched. http://www.inmemoryofjordan.com/blog/ Jordan will never be forgotten and the game played on Monday October 15th, 2007 was dedicated to him and his family. At that game there was a special pre-game ceremony in his honor. Jordan’s parents were presented with his high school jersey in a frame.

Bryan Barrow

The 2009 Boys Soccer season was dedicated to Brian Barrow.  He played in our program for 3 years on the JV and C-teams.  Bryan was killed in a car accident in the Spring of 2009.  He was a great teammate and soccer player.
